Tasting with the Tortoises: A Unique Summer Venue

This is an unforgettable tasting experience featuring you enjoying our wines with our tortoises cavorting on the lawn beside you. It's slow tasting at the Dundee Wine Library Social Club until the summer sunshine disappears. (The tortoises go inside when the temperature falls below 75).

About the event

Sitting with the tortoises is indicative of our wine experience in general - slow, elegant and thoughtful. Winemaking is an ancient art just as these animals have roamed the earth. These animals are rescue animals, are part of our family and part of the Dundee Wine Library experience. A note about Secata tortoises: They are not dangerous and don't smell. Can grown up to 200 pounds and live up to 200 years when they are not in captivity. They are vegetarians, eating mostly hay and drinking very little water. However they love good fruits and vegetables, strawberrries being one of their favorites. Papayas too. Similar to some of the tastes in our wines. They are not aggressive and enjoy a good walk in the park, as do all of us. The names of the family members are Darcelle, Darwin, Einstein and Nellie.
